The typical pipe organ appears to be a pretty big animal, but when it comes time to install a pipe organ control system, space can be at a premium in many locations within the instrument. Smaller organs can be particularly challenging. The Virtuoso takes advantage of the latest accomplishments in electronics miniaturization to ensure a minimal footprint within the organ console itself and in the organ chamber(s). One example is the use of I/O Distribution Panels, which make the Virtuoso much easier to wire than traditional pipe organ controls systems, while also occupying less space within the console. When laying out the organ console, or retrofitting an existing console, organ installers will appreciate the Virtuoso’s many display options, including vacuum fluorescent panels, numeric readouts, and light bar displays. If there isn’t room on the console for an administrative panel, it can be installed in a drawer. Compact numeric displays and light bars can be installed in strategic locations on the console face to provide critical information to the organist during performance. In older churches and buildings, conduit space is often at a premium. The Virtuoso communicates using fiber optic cables, which occupy a fraction of the space required by traditional copper cable bundles. |
