Company founder and CEO Dwight Jones has enjoyed a long career in electronics and sound, beginning at Bell Labs in 1970 as a radar and signal-processing engineer. Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Jones, an electrical engineering Ph.D., has served as the head of product development, research and development, president and CEO of a variety of high-tech companies, including venture-funded startups and multi-national corporations. He has personally founded several successful companies including IOTI. Dr. Jones has enjoyed a life-long passion for the pipe organ, installing a 31-rank instrument in his home in 1985. Some years later, unsatisfied by the control systems available on the market, he founded IOTI to utilize his knowledge of electronics and software to bring to market a product that would delight organ builders and organists alike. In 2001 he formed a team of four hardware and software engineers to develop what ultimately has become the Virtuoso system. “We spent several years working with organists, organ builders, installers, organ supply companies and others to shape the architecture and implementation of the Virtuoso system. The result is a solution that is extremely versatile and flexible, yet shields the organ builder from the complexity typical of other systems on the market today,” says Jones. The Virtuoso system’s modular software design, comprehensive functionality, all fiber-optic communications and reliance on modern manufacturing technology all are rooted in Jones’s search for the perfect organ control system that began the day he bought his first pipe organ. |
